Nature Futures

There aren't many examples of "lab lit" fiction, but awareness of the genre seems to be gaining ground.

Just to let you guys know, the latest issue of Nature has a Futures piece by your truly. About stem cells, more precisely induced pluripotent cells. Any feedback welcome, as always.

Oh, you beat me to it! I had just logged on for the express purpose of posting the link.

It's really wonderful. I laughed out loud at the ending. Many, many congratulations. Don't forget about us when you're rich and famous!

Thanks for your concern - just been overwhelmed by life and associated projects. But while we're on the subject, I've just set up a discussion forum on the Nature Network for anyone interested in sounding off about the Futures column in Nature each week. You can find it here: http://network.nature.com/groups/futures/forum/topics

What have I been up to? The workload at Nature gets bigger each week, and I've got quite a lot of very exciting manuscripts on the stocks at the moment, which take quite a lot of time. I've also been to a few conferences; got a new computer at home; been maintaining my two blogs; and have become addicted to Twitter and Scrabble on my iPhone. I've also been freelancing a lot for BBC Focus - as a columnist and frequent book reviewer.

Meanwhile I've rebuilt bridges with my agent and am developing a non-fiction book proposal. Siege of Stars is currently in dry dock for repairs following extensive and very helpful comments, especially from the Editor, but not sure when I'll be able to fit that in. I'm also supposed to be developing some dinosaur graphic-novel ideas...

So now you'll see why I often have trouble finding the bus that goes to the station.

Oo, exciting. Are you at liberty to even hint at the topic of the proposal?
