I can see we're going to have to watch the passage of time here.

Beatrice's post is set in the late evening and Mike and Slater are still in limbo at the cemetery in the afternoon. There's also a very good reason why Mike, at least, would be in the lab, which I have not had a chance to write, yet ;)

I can work around that bit, but we might have to remove Max's intro and put it in again later.

Remove Max's intro and put it later - that would be fine. Gives me more time to enjoy everyone else's stuff before I have to post again!

Thanks Bea, I've interjected some more daytime action, and I think M. has another daytime scene, then I assume our fearless leader will re-insert your post.

Please note all characters, I edited Slater's first scene a bit to alter something about the spy at the behest of MDE. Please check it out so you're aware.

Great stuff so far!!

I like it saralouise, aside from the missing article in the first line.
'Being post-doc', sounds like a disease!

The story is hotting up! Come on, Tony, let's see where you are and what you're doing! And naughty Mike, harbouring secret hots. Love it.

Mmm, that last bit of Michel's caught me by surprise, to be honest.

Toni (female) should be appearing soon. I have reduced innernet access until Sunday night, so play nice everyone :)

Dan Brown

Postby saralouise on Thu Oct 12, 2006 2:06 am

Brown sells a lot of books, but he is definitely one of the worst stylists in the world. You sure don't want to emulate him. LOL

Take a look at the stuff written by the "Killer Bees" of science fiction--Benford, Bear, and Brin. That's real writing!!!! [and impeccable science too]

Another author to check out is Jack McDevitt--Chindi is exquisite.

O.M.G.

Chindi, is, without doubt, one of the best (hard) scifi books I have ever read in my life. And the hyperbole is deliberate. It is so well written, that even I, who am not much of a (hard)SF fan loved it. I wish I owned it so I could read it again...of course, I could always buy my own copy but...

Um. Yah. Anyhoo. Prof: Being postdoc is a disease :D

And Brad, I think, has had to run off for something. I'm off to a conference on Firday and will be away from a computer till at least next Thursday. I don;t have time to write anything I afraid. I guess, feel free to write him into anything necessary (Prem esp.), and we can post hoc edit later...

Challenge, I'll answer your PM re Toni's debut shortly - unless I run out of time. I'm off to Milan this afternoon to cover a news story and might not have regular email until Saturday morning. But I should have time to have a look before I leave for Heathrow!

I've also dropped Emmanc a PM to see if we can mobilize Sabine.

Tidy, have fun at the conference! Remember, conferences are for science, not flirting. :)

Sabine is out of hibernation but I haven't been following too much the posts so I may well be out of kilter.

Oh heck, bet I've got more typos than you! and I get paid to translate things! hahahahaha - in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king, or in my case, in the land of the anglo-phobes, even the worst English manglers can become rich (ish)

Today I had a circular conversation with someone about the phrase " from off of French Polynesia", the only problem was, I couldn't understand their accent (Off and Of really did sound the same, honest) and thought it was a stutter!!! Oh!! the mortification when I finally clicked what they wanted to say!!

not sure what "off of" means anyway, preposition wise! That some sort of British thing you've got going on?

Great work thus far, by the way, I'm already hooked!
